October
2011: After a full summer of electric-fishing, we investigated fish
communities in lakes around Toulouse together with my colleague Julien
Cucherousset. A hard job but hopefully we were congratulated by a series of big fish that we sometimes dream catching with a fishing rod...
September
2011: For once we forgot fish and we focused on hydromorphology!
We help our German colleagues from the IMPACT project in describing the
hydromophological features of a section of the Célé river (one of our
favourite river).This session was succesful and the next step will be the Quarteira river in south Portugal.
Summer
2011: We began new experiments at the experimental station of Moulis.
Three of my students are running exciting experiments testing the
effects of indirect
effects induced by chemical cues on the functioning of aquatic
ecosystems. Together with some of my colleagues we will then begin new experiments on the importance of parasite and allochtonous inputs on ecosystem dynamics.
Spring and
summer is synonymous of electric-fishing time for us.Here is a picture of my colleagues and myself on the Dordogne river: what a beautiful river. This summer will be a hard for us since we will travel in many rivers in southwestern France, but it will also be a great time!
